Welcome Party

Our traditional Welcome Party will be held at the end of the First day of the conference, at the MSU Botanical garden. Beginning with a guided tour around the garden, followed by a banquet by the pond.

About MSU Botanical Garden

There are several sectors in the structure of the garden:

  • tropical and subtropical plants (based on the branch greenhouses);
  • taxonomy and geography of plants;
  • flora and gene pool protection;
  • arboretum;
  • garden plants.

The collection of the arboretum includes more than 1000 species and forms of woody plants. The collection of herbaceous plants of the natural flora of Russia is presented in the areas of rock garden, taxonomy, useful plants and in nurseries of the garden, and contains about 2000 species. Ornamental plants are exhibited in the syringarium, rose garden and collection areas of ornamental perennials. Shown here are the best domestic and foreign varieties of roses, peonies (about 500 varieties), irises of various groups (more than 700 varieties), phloxes (more than 350 varieties), etc.

The Syringarium of the Botanical Garden includes over 130 varieties of lilacs of domestic and foreign selection, including 48 varieties of the selection of Victor and Emil Lemoyns, and the most complete collection of varieties bred by Leonid Kolesnikov. The lilac collection of the Moscow State University Botanical Garden is one of the largest in Russia.
